Day Trip to Payson, Arizona

A great way to get your mind off of the week day rush is to ease your mind with a nature filled day trip – Payson, Arizona edition.

Here is your itinerary for a day trip in Payson, Arizona.

– Breakfast at Pinon Cafe –

Formally known as The Knotty Pine, Pinon Cafe is the ultimate comfort food Cafe in Payson. I make sure to stop here every time I visit – you’ll soon make this a tradition, too!

Try their freshly baked homemade Cinnamon Roll

– Take a Hike –

Payson has many water based hikes. Here are three of the most popular that you should try:

  1. Fossil Springs – rated hard, 8.4 mile out and back trail
  2. Horton Creek – rated moderate, 6.8 mile out and back nature trail
  3. Water Wheel – rated easy, 2 mile out and back nature trail

Each of these trails offer a phenomenal ending, yet different all together.

Which kind of hike are you into?

  • Montem Trekking Poles
  • Comfortable hiking shoes/ Water shoes
  • Snacks – My new fave snack pack is Trailfoody with ready-to-go variety pack of snacks.
  • Lots of water
  • Montem Dry Bag – You may slip when crossing springs, better safe than sorry.

– Kayak & Picnic –

Rent a Kayak at Woods Canyon Lake – take a packed lunch of savory sandwiches and cold bottled drinks with you as you explore the lake to find the best picnic spot.

TIP: When starting your Kayaking adventure stay left to find this perfect grassy area for your picnic {photo above}.

– Watch the Sunset –

This is the end of your adventure filled day; unfold your blankets, lay back and get cozy while you watch the sunset at the Rim.

The edge of Mogollon Rim is the ultimate sunset location in Payson, Arizona.

I hope you eased your mind in Payson as much as I did.
