24 Hour Getaway in Sedona, Arizona

Here is your guide to a 24 hour getaway in Sedona, Arizona.

– Local Hikes –

Which hike best suites you?

Easy West Fork Trail is a 7.2 mile out and back trail, though you can feel free to go as long or as short of a time as you’d like! This hike features thirteen small river crossings and a beautiful array of trees, all shaded off by the canyon walls towering over each side.

Moderate – Cathedral Rock Trail is my personal favorite! This is a 1 mile round trip trail that has a little bit of a push yet is still easy enough for the whole family to enjoy. There are some steep sections – sturdy, grippy hiking shoes are recommended.

Hard – Wilson Mountain Trail takes you to the highest point in Sedona with phenomenal views at the top. This trail is a 10 mile round trip. Hike prepared! Click here for your hiking essentials checklist.

– Shopping at Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village –

Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village, otherwise known as “The Art and Soul of Sedona”, is home to one of the best outdoor shopping spots in Arizona.

Enclosed in this Spanish style building are artists, artisans, craftsmen and chefs who strive to showcase their one-of-a-kind items for more than one million tourists annually. Expect to find more than forty shops and galleries and four delicious restaurants throughout the Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village.

Though the village is named after an artistic city in central Mexico, the name itself is a word from the ancient language of the Aztecs meaning “best of everything” – and still to this day, Tlaquepaque is staying true to its name.

Tlaquepaque (pronounced Talah-keh-pah-keh)

Along with all of the shops and galleries inside of Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village, a must stop spot is Spirits & Spice – here you can enjoy complimentary tastings of small batch produced whiskey, liquors and specialty vinegar.

– Lunch at Oak Creek Brewery & Grill –

Beer lovers, rejoice! Located inside the Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village is Sedona’s beloved local craft brewery; Oak Creek Brewery & Grill.

Oak Creek carries a delicious selection of award winning craft beers from a light Kölsch, refreshing Hefeweizen, to strong Ales and seasonal drafts.

Along with great beer comes great food! Order any one of Oak Creek’s craft beers to pair perfectly with one of their fluffy hand tossed pizzas. Get there early though – the dough is made fresh daily, meaning these mouthwatering pizza pies are no longer available once they run out of their house made dough for the day.

MY RECOMMENDATION: Order the Doc’s Pale Ale alongside the Meat Lovers pizza. This combo is perfection!

Choose to be seated inside at a booth or outdoors on the upstairs patio with a beautiful view of Tlaquepaque Village below. Either way, you are bound to have a great time here at Oak Creek Brewery & Grill. Cheers!

– Stay at the Kimpton Amara Resort & Spa –

Tucked beneath the hustle and bustle of Uptown and alongside the banks of Oak Creek Canyon is one of Sedona’s best kept secrets, the Kimpton Amara Resort & Spa. This beautiful resort features phenomenal views of the surrounding red rocks and succulent foliage which grows throughout the outside of the property.

Choose from four stylish guestrooms and two specialty suites – each welcoming you with a modern twist on Sedona’s Native American heritage. The bright colors of pinks and purples draw you in, allowing you to capture a new and exciting side to Sedona.

FUN FACT: The headboards are crafted out of local fallen trees. Now that is sustainability!

One of Amara’s eye catching features is their quaint, relaxing infinity pool highlighting gorgeous views of the glistening creek below apace with natures beautiful greenery and Sedona’s signature bright red rocks towering above. Order a skinny margarita, craft beer or refreshing cocktail from the pool bar and take in the view.

When you are ready to see more of Sedona’s breathtaking sights, Kimpton Amara has the perfect transportation waiting for you; a complimentary shuttle will transport you anywhere within 1 mile of the resort, and designated mountain bikes are free to all guests.

Be back in time for happy hour! Everyday from 5-6pm Amara offers complimentary wine tastings for all of their guests. Sip and savor your glass of red or white wine while overlooking the beautiful backdrop of Sedona on the outdoor patio.

What makes Kimpton Amara Resort & Spa so special is how central yet secluded the property is. When your here, you are truly away from the world.

– Dinner at SaltRock –

Amara’s signature restaurant, SaltRock, is serving up decedent southwest dishes and delicious hand crafted drinks for an absolutely authentic Sedona experience.

SaltRock showcases a menu that brings together harmonious flavors from the Southwest and Verde Valley. Expect to find intricate Southwestern-inspired dishes such as their Crispy Pork Belly served with a side of chipotle grits and topped with a fried egg, or the Duo of Chicken featuring roasted brussels sprouts, apple, jalapeño corn bread and tomatillo aioli. A wonderful shared plate that is true to everyone’s heart is SaltRock’s Meat & Cheese Board covered with fig jam, noble bread, fresh fruit and nuts.

SaltRock also takes pride in their agave based beverage program rocketing the ever popular margarita to new levels of wow. A must try margarita on the menu is the West Fork; crafted with house-infused jalapeño el jimador blanco, vida mezcal, lime, agave, house-made bitters.

If you’re looking for a phenomenal cocktail to pair with dinner, ask to try a Vioux Carre (my personal favorite cocktail) crafted with the finest whiskey, vermouth and bitters. This cocktails is not mentioned on the menu, so just ask! You wont regret it.

Next on the list for your 24 hours in Sedona is whatever your heart desires. Take a walk to a local bar or simply relax in your cozy room at Amara. I hope you enjoy your trip to Sedona as much as I did!

Till next time,

xoxo ♥ AB
